This was this year’s theme for the World Breastfeeding Week that is marked every year from 1st to 7th August. The week focuses on promoting breastfeeding as a crucial aspect of infant and child health and well-being.
As we wrap up this year’s celebration, let’s carry the message forward.
It Takes a Village
Breastfeeding isn’t just a personal choice, it’s a shared responsibility by the mother, her community and even policy makers. This global event is supported by organizations like the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF.
Breastfeeding is a baby’s first vaccine, a natural source of perfect nutrition and a climate-friendly, zero-waste solution to hunger and disease. Exclusive breastfeeding for the first 6 months builds immunity, boosts brain power and strengthens the mother-baby bond. It is a key strategy in reducing child mortality and preventing malnutrition. It also improves maternal health and strengthens the family. When families, communities and workplaces support breastfeeding, we create healthier futures for all.
💛 Let’s keep the support flowing because when we nourish mothers, we nourish generations.
